FC)--A Roosevelt man was killed Sunday in a single-vehicle accident near Drummond. 19 year-old Kyeler Joe Frank was pronounced dead at the scene of injuries sustained in the accident. According to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report, the accident happened just after 8:25 Sunday morning on State Highway132 about 3.3 miles north of Drummond. Authorities said Frank was driving a 2014 Ford F150 pickup north on Highway 132 when he went off the road, hit a culvert and rolled several times. The pickup then hit a fence before coming to a stop. Frank was ejected at some point, and his body was found about 100 feet from the pickup. Seat belts were not in use, according to the report, and the accident remains under investigation.

SB)--The Enid Public Schools Board of Education will meet at 6:00 this evening at the Administrative Services Center, 500 S. Independence. The board will be updated on the Eisenhower Elementary School project and if any progress has been made on obtaining money for the project. In other business, members will hear a strategic plan committee report on EPS Plainsmen Points of Pride. An enrollment report also will be discussed, with possible action to approve current capacity numbers. On Wednesday, the board will hold a special school board meeting at 1:00 p.m. for a due process hearing for EPS employee Lynette Rice. A presentation will be made by both parties, then board members will decide whether or not to terminate Rice, who works as an administrative assistant in payroll, business and finance.

EF)--Local residents will have the opportunity Tuesday to hear information on the Enid Public Schools proposed bond issue, and from the two candidates in the Ward 1 Enid City Commission recall election. The forum, which will be open to the public and live streamed online, will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Stride Bank Center main ballroom, 301 S. Independence. The forum will be one week ahead of the April 2 local election. The first segment of the forum will focus on the Enid school district plan for a bond issue to address technology, security and transportation needs. The bond issues package totaling about $10.8 million will be on a separate ballot April 2, with all voters in the Enid Public Schools district eligible to vote. Beginning at 6:00 p.m., Dudley Darrow, Enid schools superintendent, will give an explanation of the school needs to be addressed by the bond financing plan. That will be followed by a question-and-answer time. Both city commission candidates, incumbent Judd Blevins and challenger Cheryl Patterson, have confirmed their participation. The commission portion of the forum will begin at 6:45 p.m., with candidates making opening and closing statements and answering questions. Although almost all Enid residents will be eligible to vote on the school proposal, only residents of Ward 1 in southwest Enid will be able to vote on the commission candidates. The Greater Enid Chamber of Commerce and Enid News & Eagle are sponsoring the election forum. For voters who cannot attend in person, the forum will be live streamed on EnidNews.com, the school system’s EPS-TV and the city of Enid Facebook page and website.

CF)--Enid Public Schools will host a Teacher Career Fair. The fair is scheduled for Thursday, March 28 at 4:00 p.m. in the Administrative Services Center board room, 500 S. Independence. EPS administrators will be available to speak with potential candidates, accept resumes, and have extended interviews from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on both evenings. EPS provides a competitive starting salary, paying an average $3,800 more per step than the state scale, as well as a $2,000 signing bonus for standard certification in early childhood, secondary math, secondary science, special education, and world language. RE)--City of Enid Ward 1 residents are encouraged to participate in the Enid Municipal Recall Election on Tuesday, April 2. Polling locations are open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. On the ballot will be Judd Blevins and Cheryl Patterson. The election will decide who will represent residents in Ward 1 going forward. Early voting will be available from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 28 and Friday, March 29 at the Garfield County Election Board located at 903 Failing Avenue in Enid. Residents in Ward 1 can look up their polling location by going to Oklahoma.gov/elections and can view the ward map at: Enid.org/WardMap. CF)--Several positions in Garfield County will be up for election this year. Garfield County positions up for election this year are county commissioner District 2, county clerk, court clerk and sheriff. The filing period will be April 3-5. County candidates will file at the Garfield County Election Board, 903 Failing. In addition, state and national positions also will be contested, with those candidates filing at the state Capitol in Oklahoma City. The 3rd Congressional District seat currently held by U.S. Rep. Frank Lucas will be up for election. In the state Legislature, odd numbered Senate districts will be up, including District 19, currently held by Sen. Roland Pederson. All state House positions will be up, including all of those representing Garfield County: District 40, currently held by Rep. Chad Caldwell of Enid; District 59, held by Rep. Mike Dobrinski of Okeene; District 58, held by Rep. Carl Newton, of Cherokee; and District 38, held by Rep. John Pfeiffer, of Orlando.
