CC)--The Enid Mayor and Board of Commissioners Tuesday evening approved, adopted and appropriated the city of Enid’s fiscal year 2023-24 budget. It will become effective July 1 and total resources of Enid’s FY 2023-24 budget amount to $114,366,030. Based on current revenue projections, which officials said are conservative, the city is set to end the next year with a projected $6.4 million deficit. In other business, commissioners approved the FY 2023-24 financial plan for Vance Development Authority, and appointed former Mayor George Pankonin and Charlene Flanery, executive director of Enid Regional Development Alliance, to serve on it. City commissioners also voted to appoint two people, out of 14 total applicants, to serve on the Board of Directors of Public Library of Enid and Garfield County. Former Ward 1 Commissioner Jerry Allen and Marsha Scott will serve on the library board through May 2026. In addition, six people were also appointed to serve on Public Arts Commission of Enid. City commissioners also approved a resolution to adopt the Community Development Block Grant’s five-year consolidated plan 2023-27 and the FY 2023 program annual action plan, which will be submitted to the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Office of Community Planning and Development, after a 30-day comment period.

IW)--City of Enid Tech Services will be replacing the traffic control battery back-up today at the intersection of Walmart - Lowes and Garland Road. From 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. the intersection will be without power intermittently. During these outages the intersection will operate as a 4-way stop. Stop signs will be posted. Motorists are encouraged to follow posted traffic control signs and to drive with caution in this area during the construction effort.
