SW)--The Enid area and much of Oklahoma is under a threat of severe weather this afternoon and tonight with large hail, damaging winds and tornadoes the main hazards. "Thunderstorms will be possible every day from Thursday to Tuesday next week," National Weather Service stated in a hazardous weather outlook. "Severe storms will be possible on today mainly across central through northern Oklahoma, with up to baseball size hail, damaging wind gusts, and tornadoes possible. Severe storms will also be possible on Friday with large hail and damaging wind gusts. Storms producing heavy rainfall and flooding will also be possible this weekend. Time for storms in the Enid area today is most likely to be 5:00-10:00 p.m.

TS)—A number of business leaders and residents were on hand Wednesday for a Travel & Tourism Summit at the Stride Bank Center. Oklahoma Lt. Gov. Matt Pinnell, whose officials duties include overseeing travel and tourism in the state, served as the keynote speaker. The Enid summit, one of four to be held around the state, was sponsored by Visit Enid. The event focused on how local business owners have helped promote Enid’s tourism, as well as how members of other communities can better promote the tourism in their respective areas. During the event local business owners Kelly Tompkins, of Hive Appeal and Enid Hubub; Lafe Coldwater, owner and operator of Enid Axe; and Kyle Williams, president of Jiffy Trip and the driving force in creating The One Holiday Celebration, spoke on how impactful tourism is around Enid and the state. Tourism is Oklahoma’s third-largest economic driver with $10.2 billion generated in 2022, setting a new record in that regard.

BM)--The Enid Mayor and Board of Commissioners will meet in Special Session today at 5:00 p.m. According to the agenda, they will discuss and take possible action on the 2023-2024 Fiscal Year Budget. Commissioners met for budget discussions and review on Tuesday and will continue the process this evening. A finalized budget for the new FY that begins July 1, has to be approved by the commission during an upcoming meeting. This evening’s meeting will be held in Council Chambers of the City Administration Building on West Garriott and is open to the public.
