CP)--An Enid man pleaded guilty this week to a count of lewd or indecent acts to a child under 12. According to Enid News and Eagle, 37 year-old Jesse Lee Rose, who was charged with the felony in March 2021, was sentenced to 25 years with Oklahoma Department of Corrections, with all but 10 years suspended. He was charged with the sexual abuse of an 11-year-old girl in May 2020 while she was visiting Enid. Rose will have to serve at least 85% of his sentence before becoming eligible for consideration for parole. Upon his release, Rose will have to follow the special rules and conditions for sex offenders.

PT)--A 27-year-old Enid man was sentenced Monday to 10 years in prison, with two of those years on probation, on a count of lewd or indecent proposals to a child under 16. Nicholas Shay Scofield pleaded guilty and will have to serve eight years of his sentence with Oklahoma Department of Corrections and two years on probation after completion of his sentence with DOC. In August 2121, Scofield reportedly admitted sending sexually explicit text messages to the 13 year-old girl. Since the felony charge is an 85% crime, Scofield will have to serve 85% of his sentence before being eligible for consideration for parole. Upon his release, Scofield will have to follow the special rules and conditions for sex offenders.

NL)--Roberto Norton was selected as Enid Police Department’s next lieutenant. Norton and other EPD sergeants underwent testing and interviews with the Police Civil Service Commission on Tuesday before he was chosen that afternoon. The promotion will take effect Oct. 24. Norton has been with EPD for nine years, after moving to Enid from Florida in 2011.

FF)--Main Street Enid’s First Friday Oktoberfest will be held Friday in downtown Enid. Activities will get started at 6:00 p.m. and continue throughout the evening. There will be two Biergartens, live music, a costume contest, food trucks and a number of downtown businesses staying open late. Plus, Enid and area residents can participate in Alzheimer’s Association’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Participants can register and receive updates at enidwalk.org. Activities in Enid are scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m. and the walk at 6:00, which begins at the Under Her Wing artwork south of Stride Bank Center. All funds raised through Walk to End Alzheimer's further the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association, a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization. All donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law.

The Oak Ridge Boys have provided a distinctive and recognizable sound in the country music industry for four decades.
