MS)--City of Enid officials, Public Arts Commission of Enid (PACE), and the Enid Parks and Recreation Department invites the public to the Enid Skate Park “Signing of the Mural” by Kiptoe slated for 4:30 this afternoon at 124 North 5th Street. Matt Dean, known as Kiptoe, is a mural artist and illustrator based in Los Angeles. The mural at the Enid Skate Park is kinetic art, having motion and dynamic movement within it. There is a flow of bright colors that show action synonymous with action and movements surrounding skateboarding and scootering.

ST)--Some good local economic news… Enid has had six straight months of positive sales tax revenue, including up 7.62% for August, according to figures released this week from the Oklahoma Tax Commission. Year-to-date revenue in the city up 3.14%. Lisa Powell, executive director of Enid Regional Development Alliance, told Enid News and Eagle the growth of sales tax revenue is an indicator of the strength of the Enid economy. “Despite having a shortage of soft-goods retailers, the shoppers of Northwest Oklahoma are demonstrating their buying power with consistent increases in retail purchases,” Powell said.

WN)--The weekly report from the Oklahoma State Department of Health released Wednesday showed declining numbers of active COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations in Oklahoma. On Wednesday 7,464 COVID cases were considered active in the state, with 632 people currently hospitalized in the state for treatment of the virus. Both of those numbers have been declining in recent weeks. Statewide, there have been 389 hospitalizations in the past week. The three-day average hospitalizations in the Northwest Region of the state is 36 with 13 in the ICU. Locally, St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center reported it had eight confirmed positive COVID-19 patients with one in the ICU, and Integris Bass Baptist Health Center reported 14 patients on Wednesday with four in the ICU.

FF)--“You’ve Got a Friend in Me” is the theme for the 2021 Fall Festival at Willow View United Methodist Church in Enid. The free Halloween evening event is designed to appeal to families and children. Activities include outdoor inflatable games and numerous other carnival-style games for children of all ages and abilities. Candy and prizes will be awarded to all participants, and cotton candy will be handed out as well. Fall Festival will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31, at Willow View United Methodist Church, 3525 W. Purdue. The public is invited, and ample parking is available. Halloween costumes are optional.

CV)— Fifty-eight deaths and 1,148 newly confirmed coronavirus cases were reported in the state since Wednesday, according to daily numbers released late this morning by the Oklahoma State Department of Health. Currently, 7,412 Oklahomans are considered active cases in the state, with 642 people currently hospitalized in Oklahoma for treatment of the virus.

LF)--Loaves & Fishes of Northwest Oklahoma will celebrate its ninth birthday Friday with a drive-through food drive. Community members can bring donations of shelf-stable food items to Loaves & Fishes, 701 E. Maine, from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Friday for the Birthday Party Food Drive. In 2020, Loaves & Fishes gave out food 9,260 times to help 2,972 households, an average of 772 households per month. The nine most-needed items that Loaves & Fishes is asking for are cereal, stuffing mix, crackers, canned corn, canned green beans, cans of Chunky soups, canned meats, chicken broth, condiments and toilet paper. Last year, Loaves & Fishes hosted a drive-through food drive last year for its eighth birthday, which brought 3,900 pounds of food. SN)--The City of Enid invites the public to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony for “Pastor Alfred Baldwin Jr. Way.” The ceremony is slated for 1:30 p.m. on Saturday and will be held at the corner of First Missionary Baptist Church, 467 E Owen K Garriott Road (corner of East Owen K. Garriott Road and Pastor Alfred Baldwin Jr Way). Commissioner Derwin Norwood said, “We are glad to do this for the family of Pastor Baldwin and his church family. He was well known for getting things done in the community, bringing people together when dealing with civil rights issues, very strong in outreaching to those in need, and very instrumental in building up the faith-based community.”
A portion of South 5th Street from East Owen K. Garriott south to Ohio Avenue was renamed officially to “Pastor Alfred Baldwin Jr. Way” by the City Commission on Tuesday, December 15, 2020.

FF)--The Railroad Museum of Oklahoma is hosting a Fall Festival fundraiser Saturday. The festival will be held at the museum, 702 N. Washington, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. There will be museum tours for all ages, by donation. Abundant Life Church is bringing its ride-along train for free rides for children. There will be a lunch of hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, dessert and bags of candy for the kids.
