CT)--Local authorities are seeking information about a recent theft. Just after midnight on April 10th, a man was recorded on home surveillance video stealing a chainsaw from the bed of a pickup in the 1200 block of East Oklahoma. The chainsaw is a 30 inch Stihl MS 460. If you have information that will lead to the arrest of prosecution of this, or any other crime, call Garfield County Crimestoppers at 580-233-6233 and submit an anonymous tip.

AD)--The city of Enid is celebrating its 13th year as a designated Tree City USA with its annual Arbor Day celebration. There will be a tree-planting ceremony at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Meadowlake Golf Course. The ceremony is open to the public, and if any children are present they will get to pick and vote on a name, but if not, Commissioner Jonathan Waddell will name the tree.

SC)--Saturday is the Safe Kids Oklahoma car seat checkup event. With the help of the Enid Fire Department, you'll learn how to install your child's seat or booster seat. CR)--A reception honoring Commissioners Ben Ezzell, Jonathan Waddell, David Mason, and Jeff Funk is slated for 5:30 this afternoon at the Stride Bank Center, Grand Ballroom. The come-and-go event is free to the public, beginning with social hour at 5:30 p.m. and continuing with recognition, presentations, and remarks at 6:00 p.m. The Ward 3, 4, and 6 commission seat terms all expire in May 2021.

TS)--The Spring Tri-State Music Festival activities continue through Friday. Concert Band, Jazz Band, Orchestra, Show Choir, Chorus and Drumline will take place, but because of the Covid-19 virus, the Honor Choir and Honor Band will not take place this year. The annual parade has been moved to October 2nd, to coincide with the field marching contest.

CN)— Five more newly confirmed virus-related deaths and 289 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the state since Wednesday, according to daily numbers released late this morning by the Oklahoma State Department of Health. There are currently 197 people hospitalized in the state for treatment of the virus. The seven-day rolling average for new cases reported stands at 241 cases.

HW)--The City of Enid's Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day will be Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the City of Enid Service Center located at 1500 W. Poplar Avenue.

 

The following list of materials will be accepted: Pharmaceuticals, Pesticides/Herbicides, Oil-Based Paints/Stains, Lawn Care Products, Pool Chemicals, Old Fuels, and Craft & Hobby Supplies

DP)--Prayer for our community and nation will be the focus of Enid’s 2021 National Day of Prayer gathering from noon to 12:40 p.m. Thursday, May 6. The event will be at the gazebo on the north side of the Garfield County Courthouse in downtown Enid. The prayer gathering is sponsored by the Enid Ministerial Alliance, which represents numerous churches and ministries in Enid. National Day of Prayer is not affiliated with any one denomination, and all people are encouraged to attend and pray.
