We are still waiting for a total of the August gas sales from Jiffy Trip, as they are also donating a percentage of their fuel sales to Make A Wish Oklahoma. SN)--The number of Enid Public Schools students and staff in close-contact quarantine or isolation for COVID-19 fell for a second day Wednesday, with 88 more students and staff cleared to return to school. According to the district’s case tracing report on Wednesday, 557 individuals remain in quarantine (508) or isolation (49). At the peak, over 600 EPS students and staff were in close-contact quarantine or isolation.

CV)— Fourteen new virus-related deaths and 909 new coronavirus cases were reported in the state since Wednesday, according to daily numbers released late this morning by the Oklahoma State Department of Health. A total of 61,027 Oklahomans have tested positive for COVID-19 and the total number of deaths increased to 835. The health department said 8,745 cases are considered active in the state. A total of 5,013 Oklahomans have been hospitalized due to the virus with 540 Oklahomans are currently in the hospital.

 

There have been 1061 positive COVID-19 cases, and 12 deaths in Garfield County. 997 of those cases and all 12 deaths have been in Enid. Currently, Garfield County is in a "moderate risk" or Orange Level 2 category as defined by the OSDH. In surrounding counties: Kingfisher County has reported 263 cases, Blaine County is at 79 cases, Major 54, Grant 27, and Alfalfa 14.

ND)--The Garfield County Child Advocacy Council Board officially hired Dustin Albright as its new Executive Director/CEO.  Dustin Albright replaces Carol Wade who served very successfully in the position for the past 21 years. Wade announced her decision to retire in July.

 

Albright has had a long career with the Enid Police Department, where he was very active working to prevent crimes against children.  Dustin’s first day on the job as Enid’s new Garfield County Child Advocacy Council Director/CEO will be Tuesday, September 8, 2020.

FT)--Ponca City Public Schools announced that they will be limiting the number of visitor ticket vouchers given to EPS to attend Friday night’s football game at their facilities. 250 ticket vouchers have been passed out to Enid High School football players and pom/cheer students to hand out to their families to attend the game. Unfortunately, there are not enough vouchers allotted to allow for student body and/or additional community members to attend. EPS*tv will be sharing it on their social media platforms as well as putting it on our own Suddenlink channel 19.

BS)--Oklahoma Blood Institute faces an immediate need for donors of all blood types. All healthy adults are strongly urged to donate blood as soon as possible at their nearest Oklahoma Blood Institute donor center or mobile blood drive. All donations will be tested for COVID-19 antibodies. Appointments are preferred to help with social distancing, but walk-ins will be accepted as schedules allow. CDC guidelines will be followed at all donor centers and mobile drives. Donors may visit obi.org or call 877-340-8777 to schedule their appointment now at Oklahoma Blood Institute’s Enid donor center located at 301 E. Cherokee.
