SB)--The Enid Public Schools Board of Education voted Monday during its regular meeting to approve a signing bonus for certified early childhood teachers. The bonus will be $2,000, with the understanding that recipients could be asked to teach pre-k or kindergarten. The signing bonus would be available to any new hire to EPS for the current school year. This is in addition to any bonus provided by the Oklahoma State Board of Education. Also, a committee has been created and is in discussions concerning a future bond issue. The areas being discussed are transportation, student technology and safety and security. EPS Campus Police Chief Jason Priest and the school resource officers were recognized for their work and completion of training with the staff on the “Run, Hide, Fight” program. In other business, the board approved buying three trucks for campus police officers; voted to build an aviation shop at 300 W. Rush, the maintenance and transportation facility in the old Cleveland Elementary School, at a cost of just over $79,000. The shop is being built for an airplane Enid High School aviation students are building. Once the airplane build is completed, it will be sold.

CC)--The Enid Mayor and Board of Commissioners will meet this evening in Regular Session. According to the agenda, the commission will consider approving a non-exclusive permit to Suddenlink/Optimum to provide cable operations in the city of Enid. In other business, commissioners will address a number of regular business items. There will be no Study Session. The meeting of the Enid City Commission will be held at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers of the City Administration Building on West Garriott and will be open to the public.

AF)--The annual Air Force Ball in celebration of the birthday of the Air Force will be held at 7:00 p.m. Saturday at Stride Bank Center. This year’s ball will celebrate the 76th anniversary of the creation of the U.S. Air Force in 1947. The ball is an annual chance for members of Vance Air Force Base and members of the Enid community to co-mingle and further strengthen the relationship between the base and the community. Individual tickets are available online at through Eventbrite.

PEP)--Registration for the third annual Paint Enid Pink to be held Saturday October 7 is open. Paint Enid Pink is a 5K color fun run to raise awareness and money for Project 31. The first 100 runners signing up will receive a free race T-shirt. Project 31 is a local and Oklahoma-based agency founded by two-time breast cancer survivor Sarah McLean. Project 31 was created to help women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. Through peer-to-peer relationships, mentoring, support groups, activities, events, counseling scholarships and more, Project 31 will help to provide the resources women and their families need to heal. Paint Enid Pink is presented by Integris Health Imaging and My Country 103.1 KOFM.
