ST)--On Friday the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, in partnership with the Oklahoma School Security Institute (OSSI) and LSU's National Center for Biomedical Research and Training/Academy of Counter-Terrorist Education (LSU NCBRT/ACE), will be training the entire Enid Public School District on the Run. Hide. Fight method for active shooter scenarios. There will be 63 instructors teaching approximately 1000 school employees at 15 different locations at the same time. Under Governor Kevin Stitt's executive order, Secure Our Schools, all troopers have been receiving Law Enforcement Active Shooter Emergency Response training. The Run. Hide. Fight. training is geared towards citizens and trains educators, healthcare workers and other business employees how to react to an active shooter incident. Employees will learn the basics of the Run. Hide. Fight. paradigm, which addresses any active threats that may occur. These can include mass shooting incidents, attacks with various weapons, or acts of terrorism. They will learn techniques and tools to keep themselves, their students, and others safe should an active threat event occur on campus.

LD)--Millions of Americans are planning on hitting the road this weekend. AAA expects Labor Day weekend travel to be busier this year than in 2022, on the road, in the air and for those who are cruising as well. As usual, most Labor Day travelers will drive to their holiday destinations, closing out the summer with one more Great American Road Trip. Gas prices, which have been on the rise since mid-July, are not expected to deter those who want to get away. Despite the recent increase, the price at the pump is actually about the same as it was over the holiday weekend last year. Last year, AAA responded to over 2,700 Emergency Roadside Service calls in Oklahoma over the Labor Day weekend, and almost half those calls required a tow. Rescue crews are gearing up for what is anticipated to be an even busier weekend this year.
