OM)--Three Watonga people were injured in a two-vehicle crash Monday in Major County. 89 year-old Lewis Junior Green was initially transported to Fairview Regional Medical Center before being transferred to OU Medical Center in OKC where he was admitted in stable condition with trunk, arm and foot injuries. A 17 year-old female passenger was transported to Fairview Regional where she was treated and released. The second driver, 52 year-old Raul Zermeno Flores, also was treated at Fairview Regional and released. Oklahoma Highway Patrol officials said Green was northbound on State Highway 51-A six miles south of Fairview just after 5:45 Monday afternoon, when the Chevy Equinox he was driving failed to negotiate a curve, struck a sign and entered the intersection where he hit the Ford Edge driven by Flores which was southbound on Highway 58.

LD)--Millions of Americans are planning on hitting the road this weekend.  AAA expects Labor Day weekend travel to be busier this year than in 2022, on the road, in the air and for those who are cruising as well.  As usual, most Labor Day travelers will drive to their holiday destinations, closing out the summer with one more Great American Road Trip. Gas prices, which have been on the rise since mid-July, are not expected to deter those who want to get away. Despite the recent increase, the price at the pump is actually about the same as it was over the holiday weekend last year. Last year, AAA responded to over 2,700 Emergency Roadside Service calls in Oklahoma over the Labor Day weekend, and almost half those calls required a tow. Rescue crews are gearing up for what is anticipated to be an even busier weekend this year.
