EH)—A Heat Advisory will be in effect for the entire KGWA listening area this afternoon and evening. It will be hot and humid, with daytime highs near 100 and the Heat Index up to 108 degrees. People should limit their time outside, if not pace yourself, drink plenty of fluids, and take breaks to cool off and do so in an air conditioned environment if possible. Getting overheated can lead to symptoms including muscle cramps, dizziness, nausea and headaches. Anyone experiencing heat-related illness should seek medical assistance immediately. There is expected to be some relief on Sunday with a cool front dropping highs to the low 90’s.

SC)--The 69th Annual Waukomis Sooner Celebration will be Saturday. The all-day event will begin at 7:00 a.m. with a livestock show at the show barn and will end fireworks at the football field and street dance Saturday night. It is a family friendly event with many activities scheduled throughout the day. My Country 103.1 will be on site broadcasting from 9 a.m.-11 am. BF)—American Bull Fighting is coming to The Chisholm Trail Expo Center on October 21. Tickets go on sale at 10:00 a.m., this morning. Tickets range from $17 to $47, plus applicable fees are available at stridebankcenter.com and the box office located at on the second floor of Convention Hall.

FR)--4RKids Foundation will have a Laughter & Lyrics fundraiser to benefit the foundation. The event will be Saturday at Chisholm Trail Expo Center. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m., and the show will start at 7:00 p.m. The family friendly show will feature dueling pianos and comedian Jamie Campbell. The cost of tickets, if pre-purchased by Aug. 25, is $15 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under. The price is $5 more at the door.

RW)---There are several road improvements and repair projects that will effect local motorists. The intersection at Adolpha Circle and Cogdal Drive has been closed due to a damaged storm drain and wash out under the street. The intersection was closed Wednesday and is expected to be closed until Oct. 1, while workers make necessary repairs.
City of Enid announced there will be a road closure and 4-way stop for the intersection of South Independence and West Owen K. Garriott allowing contractors to install new signalization improvements. This closure will be August 29 and 30.
There will be a lane closure August 28-September 1for a portion of North Grand between East Chestnut and East Oak allowing contractors to do maintenance at the bridge. City officials urge motorists to follow posted traffic control signs and to drive with caution in the area.
