SC)--The Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center is adding another structure in its efforts to tell the story of the Cherokee Outlet. Jake Krumwiede, Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center director said the Sneed Cabin will be the first new historic building added to Humphrey Heritage Village in 30 years. The one-room Sneed cabin was originally built near what is now Cleveland, Oklahoma during the winter of 1900 by homesteaders Everett and Amanda "Mandy" Sneed. September 16th will be the 130th anniversary of the opening of the Cherokee Outlet. It is also the 30th anniversary of the dedication of the Humphrey Heritage Village. Most of the buildings in the Village were added in the months preceding the dedication. The Sneed cabin is in the process of being relocated to the Humphrey Heritage Village, and we hope for it to be open to the public later this year.

EH)—A Heat Advisory will be in effect for the entire KGWA listening area each afternoon and evening this week. It will be hot and humid, with daytime highs near 100 and the Heat Index up to 108 degrees. People should limit their time outside, if not pace yourself, drink plenty of fluids, and take breaks to cool off and do so in an air conditioned environment if possible. Getting overheated can lead to symptoms including muscle cramps, dizziness, nausea and headaches. Anyone experiencing heat-related illness should seek medical assistance immediately. There is expected to be some relief on Sunday with a cool front dropping highs to the low 90’s.
