SZ)--School Zone Beacon testing for Enid area schools is scheduled for this week. City of Enid Technical Services Department announced they will start testing and programming the school zone beacons for Enid Public Schools, Chisholm Public Schools, Pioneer-Pleasant Vale Schools, and all other school beacons within Enid city limits. The testing will be Wednesday through Friday. Motorists are advised to follow the posted speed limit in these areas at all times while beacons are intermittently in flash mode for these three days.

BD)--The 16th Annual Enid Community Challenge Blood Drive, sponsored by Our Blood Institute (OBI) will be held at Stride Bank Center from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. today. The blood drive challenges local civic organizations to compete for the most blood donations. Junior Welfare League, Enid AM Too AMBUCS, Enid Noon AMBUCS, Enid AM AMBUCS and North Enid Lions Club are participating in the challenge. The event’s goal is for 100 people to sign in and for 80 people to donate. Those 80 donations can aid 240 patients. Oklahoma is currently on red alert, meaning the blood types in highest demand are in low supply. Each donor will receive a vintage Life is Better T-shirt and their choice of free entry to Science Museum Oklahoma, Frontier City or Hurricane Harbor, and a free voucher for Chick-fil-A. The top three civic organizations will receive cash prizes.

CP)--Champlin Pool will close for the season on Saturday, with the annual Doggie Dip is scheduled for Aug. 5. According to the city of Enid, Saturday will be the last full day that the pool is opened. The annual Doggie Dip will be 2:00-4:00 p.m. Aug. 5. Only dogs are allowed in the pool during the event. The event is free. As an added bonus, each dog owner will receive a ticket for a chance to win a goody bag filled with goodies for their dog.

MS)--Main Street America will be visiting Downtown Enid Aug. 29-30 to help Main Street Enid determine transformation strategies. MSA will evaluate the downtown community and use what they find to help Main Street Enid with a strategic plan that will help the district continue to grow over the next few years. A Transformation Strategy is a comprehensive strategy that guides the direction of the revitalization initiative and, over time, transforms the district. In preparation for Main Street America’s visit, Main Street Enid is gathering input via an online survey about Downtown Enid. The results of this survey will inform planning for future development and improvements. All Enid community members and those in the surrounding area are encouraged to complete this survey. DD)--Main Street Enid invites you to celebrate the dog days of summer with Downtown Dogfest during August First Friday. Festivities include a Puppy Poker Run that will include several dog friendly downtown businesses. In addition to our Dogfest activities we have “Bikes & Barks” a special BMX Show by Tulsa's Quickie-Mart in Collaboration with The Bike Shop and Retro BMX Builds. There will be special dog friendly vendors on the courthouse lawn, a live DJ by BlaiserPro, and a “Dog Cat Walk” Fashion Show with awards for Best Dressed Dog and Look Alike Contest.
