BD)--A former Enid nonprofit director and board member of two local organizations is facing several federal charges in relation to alleged financial mismanagement activities. Enid News and Eagle reports Deborah Wilczek, of Enid, was arraigned Monday in federal court in Oklahoma City on an indictment issued by a federal grand jury. The indictment filed alleges 17 felony counts of wire fraud, bank fraud, uttering forged securities, aggravated identity theft and filing false tax returns during her time as finance director and executive director of YWCA Enid and as board member and treasurer of Cimarron Montessori School, which closed in 2021. CC)--Enid City Commissioners Tuesday night approved a number of agenda items including amending the amount of time members of the public have to speak during the public input session of a meeting, as well as making Juneteenth, June 19, a holiday in the city of Enid. With the changes, speakers will have two minutes for public hearings, one minute for an input item that is on the agenda and one minute for public comment. The resolution passed unanimously. Enid Mayor David Mason read a proclamation making Juneteenth a holiday in Enid, which will be recognized annually on June 19. Juneteenth derives from 1865, when Union troops in Galveston, Texas, declared that all enslaved people had been free since 1862. Some in Texas had not been made aware of the Emancipation Proclamation. In other business, commissioners approved a number of consents and other items.
