RC)--The 2022 Enid Firefighter and Police Officer of the Year each received a uniquely made ring from Jackson Diamond Jewelers on Wednesday morning. According to Enid News and Eagle, Enid Fire Department assistant mechanic John Buller and Enid Police Department Officer Jeran Jones were honored with the custom-made rings to honor their achievements, courtesy of Curt and Ryan Jackson. Both men were recognized as Firefighter and Police Officer of the Year by Enid Kiwanis Club and each received $500 awards from the DeVaughn Foundation, as well. Crafting the rings has become an annual tradition at Jackson Diamond Jewelers, which started giving out the rings in 2010.

VY)--Dedee Krueger of Hennessey was named the 2022 CASA of the Year by Garfield County Child Advocacy Council at its Board of Directors meeting on Wednesday. Krueger has been volunteering as a Court-Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for the Fourth Judicial District for a little more than six years. There are 48 active CASA volunteers in the Fourth Judicial District’s CASA Program, which operates in Blaine, Garfield, Grant, Kingfisher, Major and Woodward counties, and there are 442 children who are going through the legal system. Training to become a CASA volunteer is offered two or three times per year and takes about five weeks to complete. IA)—A Ponca City man was injured Wednesday in a three-vehicle accident southeast of Hennessey. Oklahoma Highway patrol officials said 47 year-old Gary Gene Higgins was transported by Air Evac to OU Medical Center in OKC and admitted in stable condition with a head injury. According to the report, Higgins was eastbound on a county road three miles south and four miles east of Hennessey just before 1:15 Wednesday afternoon in a 2007 Freightliner semi when he rear ended a second east bound semi that had slowed for a third vehicle stopped at the stop sign The impact knocked the second semi in to the third vehicle. The other two drivers were not injured in the accident. Higgins was cited for following too closely.

EH)--The commencement ceremony for Enid High School’s Class of 2023 will be at 7:30 p.m., Friday, at D. Bruce Selby Stadium. There will be several student speakers with 46 students being honored with valedictorian commendations and diplomas presented to all graduates. Additionally, EHS will celebrate 119 honor graduates. General Parking will be available in the south parking lot of the stadium as well as newly paved parking on the west side of the stadium. The EHS parking lots, located on the school campus, also will be open. Those who use the south stadium parking lot are asked to enter the south gates and follow the east sidewalk to the north-side seating. Limited handicap parking will be located on the north side of the stadium. Once the spaces are full, vehicles with passengers who require handicap parking will be allowed to drive to the entrance of the stadium to drop-off passengers. Guests are welcome to sit on both the north and south sides of the stadium. Enid Public Schools appreciates the support of community members, parents and fellow students as we honor the Class of 2023. We ask that those attending please not bring air horns or other items of distraction during this special event. Your cooperation is appreciated.
