NP)--Oklahoma voters rejected a state question Tuesday to allow for the recreational use of marijuana. Statewide the measure failed 62% to 38%. In Garfield County, the measure failed overwhelmingly, with 5,946 people, or 69.04%, voting against, compared to 2,667 voting in favor. Hillsdale voters on Tuesday approved a 25-year franchise agreement with OG&E on a vote was 33-4, or 89.19%, in favor.

MM)--A man charged with the murder and rape of a two-year-old girl at an Enid motel returned to court on Tuesday. Michael Geiger is accused of kidnapping, raping and murdering two-year-old Caliyah Guyton April 28, 2022 at the Grand Prairie Hotel on South Van Buren. Geiger has been held in the Garfield County Jail since being arrested the day after the murder. Tuesday’s hearing in Garfield County District Court was continued, meaning a trial date has not been set. Court records showed Geiger had been released from prison about a month before the crime and was either employed or soon to be employed by the hotel as a plumber, and lived there. Another court hearing is scheduled for April 4.

CC)—The Enid Mayor and Board of Commissioners Tuesday night appointed individuals to several citizen advisory boards and commissions, approved an agreement extending the deadline the contract with Oklahoma Department of Transportation to widen a portion of north Cleveland from the BNSF railroad crossing north to Willow Road, and approved two rezoning requests.
