TD)--The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is investigating after a man died in custody of the Enid Police Department. Enid Police officials said officers responded to a domestic disturbance call just before 6:15 Thursday morning at Pine Valley Apartments near South 30th and East Market. According to the report, when police arrived on scene, officers encountered a naked 56-year-old man, who was not a resident at the apartments, behaving erratically and refusing a female resident's demands to leave. Police determined that the man was a danger to himself and others, as well as, needing mental health treatment. Police said they attempted to take the man in protective custody, but the man violently resisted. During the struggle, the man lost consciousness, and officers on scene immediately called for an ambulance and began CPR. Police said officers also administered NARCAN in an effort to counteract a potential drug overdose that may have occurred. The man was transported to St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center where he later died. Police have not yet identified the man. The OSBI was requested to investigate the incident due to the man dying while in police custody.
