NU)--The Night to Unite (formerly Night to Shine) prom for people with special needs is scheduled for Feb. 10 at Oakwood Christian Church, but could use more volunteers. Currently, there are 150 kings and queens, as participants are called, registered to take part in the festivities. “We currently have enough buddies, but we can always use help with decorations and cleanup,” said Dalen McVay, Night to Unite board member. Each king or queen has a buddy to escort and accompany them on their special night. The buddy helps them on all phases of the prom experience, including going with them into hair and makeup and to get their corsage or boutonniere. Each king and queen walks down the red carpet. They choose to dance or do karaoke, then take pictures with various superhero characters, and even go on a limo ride. For more information, go to www.nightuniteenid.com or call Oakwood Christian Church at (580) 233-1225.

VE)--Visit Enid, the official Destination Marketing Organization for the City of Enid, has launched a revamped website at VisitEnid.org, offering new capabilities and a more visually appealing layout. The new website serves as a resource for visitors and residents alike looking to explore Enid. Visitors to the site can find listings for upcoming events, local restaurants and breweries, attractions, lodging, history and culture, and outdoor recreation. It was created with the user experience in mind while incorporating current travel and tourism trends. Visit Enid Director Rob Houston said, “Our old website was dated and difficult to navigate, so our goals in creating this site were to attract new visitors by showcasing Enid’s many great events, its vibrant public and performing arts scene, and a unique and proud heritage unlike any other. The site also creates a place where locals can find helpful resources to take advantage of the many great offerings in their own backyards.

Highlights of the new website include an easier-to-navigate events calendar and a Google map on each page, showing the location of that particular attraction, event or restaurant. It also includes a dedicated section for meeting planners and group tour operators as well as an event venue directory. VisitEnid.org allows users to explore Enid’s free 48-page travel guide online or to order a guide via the United States Postal Service. You can also sign up to receive Visit Enid’s weekly newsletter via email, with links to that week’s event calendar and the latest quarterly event calendar. The new site serves as the home for the Enid Film Office, as the city is now recognized as a Film Friendly Community by the Oklahoma Film + Music Office.
