WW)--A Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect for Enid and the entire KGWA listening area from 6:00 a.m. Tuesday through 6:00 p.m. Wednesday. The National Weather Service says wet snow is expected across the area with a total accumulation of 1 to 4 inches possible. There will be the potential of slick roads and motorists should travel with caution.

FS)--On Wednesday the funeral service for Athena Brownfield will be held at the Stride Bank Center in downtown Enid at 2:00 PM. State Sen. Roger Thompson will officiate the funeral. There are a number of people and organizations involved in the funeral service. Organizers said  the events surrounding the death of the 4 year old girl in Cyril, are heartbreaking and she deserves to be remembered in the correct way and with dignity adding, because this is not about any other person or organization beside Athena, no additional comments from organizers will be given. The funeral service is open to the public; however, there will be no cameras allowed inside at the time of the service at the request of the funeral organizer.

EO)--The Garfield County Election Board is in need of precinct officials to help out with three back-to-back elections. Coulten Cue, election board secretary said about 90 people are needed to run each of the elections, which are scheduled for Feb. 14, March 7 and April 4. Cue said precinct officials are the key roles in making elections run successfully. Most precincts will have three positions. Inspectors will essentially run the precinct and are in charge of picking up the machines. This position pays $110 per day plus mileage, if living within a certain distance from the precinct. Judges will run the books and sign voters in, and clerks will hand out ballots to voters. The pay for both of these positions is $100 per day plus mileage, if living within a certain distance from the precinct. There are 28 precincts in Garfield County, and busier ones may have up to five precinct officials running the show. A provisional voting officer position also is available, which has the same pay as judges and clerks. Polls are open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on election days, and the workers will be there the entire day and are welcome to bring their own lunches .For more information, or to sign up to be a precinct official, visit the election board, 903 Failing, between 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday; call (580) 237-6016; or email garfieldcounty@elections.ok.gov.

RW)--Beginning today there will be a road closure at the intersection of Parkwood and South Garland allowing contractors to continue construction for the South Garland Road water line relocation project. This closure is expected to last approximately one day. Motorists are encouraged to follow posted traffic control signs and to drive with extreme caution in this area during the construction effort.

ME)--Enid voters will have to make decisions on mayor and two city commission ward seats in February. David Mason and Jayme Wright Latta filed to run for mayor to replace George Pankonin, who decided not to run for another term. In Ward 1, incumbent commissioner Jerry Allen filed for another term, along with challenger Judd Blevins. In Ward 2, incumbent Derwin Norwood filed, as did challengers Doug Boyle and Kyle Hockmeyer. In Ward 5, incumbent Rob Stallings filed but did not draw an opponent, so he will serve another four-year term. The election will be February 14.

CD)--The 2023 Champagne and Diamonds Gala in support of 4RKids will take place inside the ballroom at the Stride Bank Center in Enid on February 24. Doors open at 6:00 pm.  The gala starts at 7:00 pm. Cocktail Attire Executive Director Rachel McVay said, “4RKids is honored to work with KOFM, Mead Jewelers, and Great Plains Bank for the 2nd annual Champagne and Diamonds Gala. Our partnership with KOFM allows us to showcase the opportunities at 4RKids, and raise important funding. The Champagne and Diamonds Gala is an inspiring and fun-filled evening of dining, dancing, and live music featuring “The Drive” from OKC. Tickets are $75 each. Each ticket includes dinner and one champagne flute. Inside each flute, there will be a gemstone.  One of the flutes contains a genuine “One Carat Round Brilliant Cut” Diamond worth $7500.  Mead Jewelers will examine each gemstone and the winner will be announced at the end of the evening.
