EV)—Polls will be open until 7:00 p.m. statewide today for the 2022 General Election. Today’s ballot is headlined by the hotly contested gubernatorial race that features Republican incumbent Kevin Stitt and Democratic challenger Joy Hofmeister, Libertarian Natalie Bruno and independent Ervin Yen. The superintendent of public instruction race between Republican Ryan Walters and Democrat Jena Nelson also has garnered a lot of attention, as has the federal race for the state’s open U.S. Senate seat. That race has Democrat Kendra Horn vying against Republican Markwayne Mullin, Libertarian Robert Murphy and independent Ray Woods to replace retiring Sen. Jim Inhofe. There are a number of other statewide races, as well as state legislative and in some locations local races or issues, making for a long ballot so be prepared. Early voting brought out significant numbers in Oklahoma. More than 132,000 Oklahoma residents voted in person early. In addition, county election boards reported more than 69,000 mail-in ballots had been returned as of early Monday afternoon. Sample ballots also will be posted outside every precinct polling place on Election Day so voters can review them before casting ballots. Again, polls will close at 7:00 tonight.
