FW)--A Freeze Watch will be in effect for the late night and overnight hours tonight and Tuesday night across much of northern, central and northwest Oklahoma including the Enid area.  The National Weather Service forecast is calling for an overnight low tonight in Enid of 31, and a low on Tuesday night of 28. Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing. Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. Now that below freezing temperatures have returned, it is also the time to disconnect hoses from outside faucets.

TS)--An Enid mother and grandmother are facing felony charges after allegedly chaining a 17-year-old with special needs to a recliner couch. On Friday, Oct. 7, two Dobson Fiber employees saw the situation while installing a woman’s fiber internet service. One of the employees called 911 reported the situation and requesting a welfare check. According to court record, responding officers saw female teen sitting on a recliner couch with a chain around her left ankle and locked with a padlock. The chain ran to the frame of the recliner where it was attached to the frame. Court records say the injuries are consistent with a chain, much like the one around her left ankle, being wrapped around her ankle and being pulled very tight. When asked why the 17-year-old was chained up, the teen’s grandmother, Mildred Perez, reportedly told police the teen always runs away and is stronger than them. Perez added, “The teen is dangerous to herself and others. The documents also reveal Jennifer Perez, the teen’s mother, claimed the police and DHS don’t help them and that is why they chained her to the couch. Both Mildred and Jennifer Perez are charged with Abuse by Caretaker and Conspiracy to Commit Child Abuse. Their bonds are set at $150,000.
