FC)—A Hitchcock man was killed Wednesday in a single-vehicle accident east of Canton in Blaine County. Oklahoma Highway Patrol officials said 56 year-old Kevin John Biggs was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on State Highway 51 approximately two miles east of Canton. According to the report, Biggs was eastbound on the highway around 8:05 Wednesday night when his Chevy Silverado pickup crossed the centerline and departed the roadway before striking a tree and rolling a half time coming to rest on its top in the ditch. Authorities said the crash remains under investigation.

PM)--Enid Regional Development Alliance (ERDA) will host a public meeting allowing citizens the opportunity to share their thoughts, ideas, and feedback on the neighborhood around the Longfellow Middle School area. The meeting will be on Monday, October 17th at Open Door Church Gym located at 831 East Broadway from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The gym entrance is on the west side of the building. ERDA, in partnership with RDG Planning & Design, began a process in September to develop a city-wide housing study. This will be a come-and-go event regarding the area around Longfellow Middle School. All information gathered will be included in the overall study. Prior to the meeting ERDA invites the residents to complete an online surveywww.surveymonkey.com/r/enidhousingstudy. The event is free for the public. All interested individuals are invited and encouraged to attend this event.

EQ)--A magnitude 3.5 earthquake shook the Dover area Wednesday afternoon, the latest in a series of temblors in the area. According to U.S. Geological Survey, the earthquake was recorded at 5:22 p.m. about 3.8 miles south-southeast of Dover. More than 30 earthquakes have been reported in a cluster in the area in the past week. The seismic activity prompted Oklahoma Corporation Commission to stop well completion operations in the area.

RC )--Beginning Friday there will be a road closure at the intersection of West Chestnut and Wheatridge Road due to waterline construction for the Kaw Lake Water Supply Project. This work is expected to be completed by end of day Tuesday. Motorists are encouraged to follow posted traffic control signs and to drive with caution in this area during the construction effort.

RD)--The deadline to register to vote in the November 8th general election is Friday. Voter registration forms can be filled out online, printed and turned into the election board office. Paper voter registration forms are also available at county election boards, tag agencies, the post office and the library. The form can be found on the Oklahoma State Election Board website. Absentee ballots are available to all registered voters who request them by Monday, Oct. 24. Absentee ballots must be received by the county election board before 7:00 p.m. on Election Day, Nov. 8, in order to be counted. Early voting or in-person absentee voting will be available Nov. 2, 3, 4 and 5 at the Garfield County Election board, 903 Failing Drive. Polls will be open 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Nov. 2-4 and 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Nov. 5. General Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 8, and polls will be open 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. To vote in person, voters must bring proof of identity, which can include an Oklahoma driver’s license or ID card, a passport, a military ID, a trial membership or the voter identification card issues by the county election board. To vote absentee, voters must have their ballot notarized unless a voter qualifies for a special exemption on the election board website.
