MW)--Enid Police Department is looking for a local woman who was reported missing by her family earlier this month. 24-year-old Kendra Nicole Battelo, of Enid, was reported as a missing person on July 12 by her mother, who said she last heard from Battelo around midnight on July 7. Battelo has black hair and dark brown eyes, weighs around 115 pounds, is 5 feet, 8 inches tall and is known to travel to Bristow. Family members said Battelo has dimples and currently has short hair but often wears wigs of various hair colors. According to the report, Battelo has mental health issues and a substance abuse disorder. Battelo was staying at a residence in the 1400 block of West Randolph but left at some point. Police have spoken with the man Battelo reportedly was last seen with before being reported as missing. Battelo was reportedly seen on July 20 after knocking on the door of a woman’s house in Pawnee and asking for a glass of water. Edna Reyes, Battelo’s cousin, said a prayer vigil is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Friday on the Garfield County Court House lawn. Anyone with information regarding Battelo can call EPD at (580) 242-7000 or text “EPDTIP” and a message to 847411.

NO)--United Way of Enid and Northwest Oklahoma moved in to new offices on Wednesday. The nonprofit organization now will be housed in the Triangle Business Center, 205 W. Maple, Suite 400, following its move from the second floor of the Great Plains National Bank building. Dan Schiedel, executive director of United Way, said before moving the offices to downtown Enid in 2019, United Way saw only a dozen or so people per year inside the office. After moving into the Great Plains building three years ago, though, Schiedel said around 10 or 15 people would visit weekly, and United Way wanted to keep that momentum going and stay in the area. All phone numbers and email addresses associated with United Way will stay the same. The new offices should be open by Monday.

FD)--A free, family friendly event will take place this weekend with Saturday in the Park Summer Fun Day from 9:00 a.m. to noon at Meadowlake Park. Hosted by Rural Health Projects Inc., the event will provide health screenings, various tests, COVID-19 antibody testing for those 13 and older and children with parental consent, and COVID-19 vaccinations, all free of charge. The event also will include free hot dogs, free rides, including mini-golf and paddle boats, a petting zoo and more. It also was sponsored through a grant with the Public Health Institute of Oklahoma and the University of Oklahoma’s CATCH-UP Oklahoma COVID-18 outreach efforts. Garfield County Health Department will provide the COVID-19 vaccinations, and Great Salt Plains Health Center and Bass will provide various free health screenings and tests.
