FL)--A number of party candidates were selected, while several statewide races will head to runoffs following Tuesday’s Party Primary Election. In the Republican Oklahoma District 3 Congressional race, incumbent Frank Lucas defeated challengers Wade Burleson of Enid and Stephen Butler of Yukon. Tuesday night Burleson, who retired as pastor of Emmanuel Enid in February after deciding to run for Congress, said he intended to support Lucas in November against the district’s Democratic nominee, Jeremiah Ross, of Bristow. In the Garfield County District 3 County Commissioner Republican race, Clarence Maly defeated incumbent James Simunek. Maly will take the office as no Democrat filed for the petition. Both Enid and Carrier voters approved 25-year extensions of franchise agreements with OG&E. All election results are unofficial until they are certified by the appropriate election board or boards. Unless a contest of election or a petition for recount has been filed by Friday, state and federal elections will be certified by the state election board on July 5.
