CC)—The Enid Mayor and Board of Commissioners Tuesday night will consider tax incentive agreements related to local wind energy operations. Enid city commissioners have three weeks to consider approving two Tax Increment Finance (TIF) districts. The first would extend the 10-year term on a current district, the second would create a new one for 14 years within the same 6-square-mile area in eastern Enid. Under the proposed agreements, the city of Enid would spend roughly $2.4 million total to reconstruct the two roads in the districts leading to the pair of wind energy facilities. The commission will hold the first of two required public hearings on both TIF proposals Tuesday night. If the proposals move forward, the city commission will consider whether to recommend the proposals following a final public hearing during its June 21 meeting. During Tuesday’s meeting commissioners will address a number of other business items. Prior to the regular meeting at 6:30 p.m., Commissioners will meet in study session at 5:00 p.m. Both meetings will be held in Council Chambers and will be open to the public.

CD)--An Enid man has been charged with two felonies after allegedly firing shots through a door at Enid police officers. 35 year-old Matthew Truman Travis was charged June 2 with two felony counts of shooting with intent to kill. An intoxicated Travis reportedly shot a pistol multiple times through a basement door in the direction of Enid Police Department Officers that had responded to a call to the residence in the 1200 block of West Cherokee. Officers responded to the home following a 911 call from other residents of the home saying Travis was very intoxicated and possibly suicidal and homicidal. Following a standoff in the home during which Travis fired the nine shots through the door, police convinced him to put down the weapon and come out of the basement at which time he was taken into custody. One officer was hit by wood from the door as it was being shot, but was not seriously injured. Authorities said no shots were fired by officers.
