VL)--Carver Early Childhood Center will be virtual through Friday due to over a dozen staff absences due to illness. Enid Public Schools officials said thirteen of Carver’s 17 total staff members were absent today. According to the district’s online case count, 15 staff in total from EPS' Carver and Fowler preschools were in isolation after testing positive for COVID-19. Carver’s 120 students will be doing virtual instruction for the remainder of the week and can work on packets that were sent home with them. Supplies including iPads, Chromebooks and other resources were available for pick-up today. Carver in-school classes will return on Monday, Jan. 24. The preschool is the first EPS site to close due to COVID-19 this school year.

PT)--Enid Police are seeking information about a couple suspected in a recent theft. On Dec. 30, a woman and a man entered a store on South Van Buren. Police said a previous customer had inadvertently left her iPhone in the child’s seat of her shopping cart. When the couple left the store, the man took the phone from the shopping cart. The phone was never turned into the department as a lost item and was shut off shortly after being taken from the store. Anyone with information about the couple’s identity is asked to either message EPD directly, call them at (580) 242-7000, or text 847411 and enter keyword EPDTIP. The case number is 2021-11303.

CC)—The Enid Mayor and Board of Commissioners will meet on Thursday. During their Study Session commissioners are scheduled to hear a number of updates including on the Vance Development Authority, Bluepeak’s “Fiber to the Home” service, as well as Solid Waste, Storm Water and Street planning or projects. During the Regular Meeting the commission is scheduled to appropriate $1.5 million for the Leona Mitchell Waterline Project, as well as address a number of regular business items. Thursday’s Study Session will begin at 5:00 p.m., with the Regular Meeting at 6:30. Both meetings will be held in Council Chambers of the City Administration Building on West Garriott and are open to the public.

CN)— The Oklahoma State Department of Health on Tuesday reported 3,853 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases across the state. The report also showed 113 additional deaths compared to Friday’s update. There are 111,266 people that are considered currently active cases in the state, with the latest three-day average hospitalizations in Oklahoma reported at 1,489.

OS)--The City of Enid’s City Clerk’s office will be closed temporarily due to personnel shortages as a result of COVID issues today and Wednesday. Utility bill payments made by autopay, drop box, or mail, will be processed as normal.

 

Those that need to pay utility bills during the temporary closure, have the following options:

 

*Mail: City of Enid, P.O. Box 1768, Enid, OK 73702.

 

*City Drop Box: The City drop box is located in front of City Administration Building, Martin Luther King, Jr. Municipal Complex, 401 W Owen K. Garriott Road, Enid, OK.

 

*Phone Payments: Payments can be made over the phone by utilizing our IVR system at: (844) 973-1668. Customers will need their full 12-digit account number for this option.

 

*Online: https://utilitybilling.enid.org. Select "Pay Now" to make a one-time payment, without registration.  Customers will need to have the full 12-digit account number, found on the top right-hand side of their bill.  Payments can be made with credit/debit cards or with a bank account.

AB)--This is the last week for voters to request absentee ballots by mail before the deadline for the February 8 election. Applications must be received by the Garfield County Election Board no later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 24. Absentee voting is available to all voters and can be submitted several ways. In Oklahoma, no excuse is needed to vote by absentee ballot, and it’s easy to apply. Voters can submit their application online, in-person, by fax, mail, or even email. Voters can submit their own absentee ballot application, but it is against the law to submit an absentee ballot application for another person.

 

Voters can apply online using the OK Voter Portal at https://oklahoma.gov/elections/ovp. Applications are also available at the GCEB or can be downloaded at https://oklahoma.gov/elections. For more information about absentee voting, voters can call (580) 237-6016 or email GarfieldCounty@elections.ok.gov. The GCEB, 903 Failing Drive, is open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

CT)--Local hospitals are asking people seeking COVID-19 tests to not go to emergency rooms. As ERs in parts of the country are becoming overcrowded by those in need of COVID-19 tests, both St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center and Integris Bass Baptist Health Center are encouraging people to use appropriate testing sites to allow ER staff to focus on treating urgent medical needs.

 

Tests for COVID-19 are available at various sites in Enid, including Garfield County Health Department, 2051 Mercer, by appointment only from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday; Xpress Wellness Urgent Care, 220 S. Van Buren, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday by filling out an online form; Walgreens Pharmacy, 929 W. Garriott and 3915 E. Garriott, by making an appointment online; CVS Pharmacy, 930 W. Garriott, via the drive-thru by filling out a form online for a PCR/NAAT test; and Enid Live Well, 2111 N. Van Buren, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, by filling out two forms. Integris’ Urgent Care Plus and Urgent Care North both offer testing for COVID-19, as well, though patients need to have seen a provider before getting the test, At-home COVID-19 tests are available at a number of local retail locations.
