VD)--In observance of the Veterans Day holiday, the City of Enid administration offices, Enid Animal Welfare, Enid Public Library, and the Recycle Center will be closed today. In addition, the Enid Public Transportation Authority (EPTA) will not be operating on Thursday, November 11th. Meadowlake Golf Course will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and the landfill will be open with operating hours from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. The regular trash schedule will remain the same for this week.

YR)--Enid’s Operation Yellow Ribbon continues this week. Today, Veterans Day, a ceremony will be held at Stride Bank Center at 6:30 p.m. The annual Legacy Awards ceremony honors veterans for their service to their community and country. Enid’s Veterans Day Parade will be in downtown 11:00 a.m. Saturday. Following the parade, there will be a static aircraft display, food trucks, vendors and a car show downtown. Two concerts will be hosted by Stride Bank Center. Tonight, Chicago will perform in the arena at 7:00 p.m. On Friday, Nov. 19, Three Dog Night will perform at 7:00 p.m.

WN)--The Oklahoma State Department of Health’s COVID-19 data dashboard has a new look. On Wednesday, OSDH launched an updated version of the dashboard, which streamlines data and offers a more user-friendly, interactive way to access information on cases, hospitalizations, deaths, vaccination rates and other COVID-related statistics in Oklahoma. According to Wednesday’s Situation Update, 3,926 new COVID-19 cases have been reported in Oklahoma the past week. There are 5,071 active cases statewide, a decrease of 1,327 since last week. In the past week, cases in Garfield County increased by 61. The number of new cases over the past 30 days in Garfield County is 476.

 

The three-day average hospitalizations in the Northwest Region, including Garfield County, is 17 with five in the ICU. St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center of Enid reported it had three confirmed positive COVID-19 patients, one of whom is in the ICU, and Integris Bass Baptist Health Center reported four patients on Wednesday with one in the ICU.

PS)--Enid Mayor George Pankonin will headline a Veterans Day presentation at NOC’s Enid campus today. Pankonin, a retired Air Force veteran, will speak during Northern Oklahoma College’s presentation from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in room 100 in the Gantz Center. Pankonin entered the Air Force in 1970, then was commissioned as a supply officer in 1978. He retired as a major and squadron commander in 1993 before returning to Enid, where he’d previously served at Vance Air Force Base. The presentation also will be available via Zoom, at Meeting ID# 944 8751 8473.

LC)--Today, there will be a temporary lane closure in the west bound, outside lane on West Maine from South Independence to South Grand in front of the Enid Public Library to allow crews to install an HVAC system on the rooftop of the library. Parking for the library on West Maine will be closed off as well.

DK)--United Way of Enid and Northwest Oklahoma is inviting the community to participate in its annual Day of Kindness on Friday. United Way has been observing this day to promote random acts of kindness in the area since 2015. Various groups in the Northwest Oklahoma area are planning acts of kindness throughout the day, including all 26 Jiffy Trip locations in Oklahoma. To spread kindness, Jiffy Trip will be offering a FREE DRINK for all teachers, school staff, police, fire, healthcare workers and first responders on Friday to help pay it forward. *Offer will be valid at all 26 locations from 5:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.* A number of others have announced plans to participate, and local United Way Executive Director Dan Schiedel said any other individuals, clubs, school classes, groups and businesses who would like to be involved in Day of Kindness may contact him by emailing dan@unitedwayenid.org or by calling (580) 237-0821.
