HW)--A High Wind Warning will be in effect for the Enid area and much of western Oklahoma until 7:00 this evening. Northwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts over 50 mph are expected across the western half of the state. Strong winds could blow down trees, power lines and cause other damage. Widespread power outages will be possible. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Avoid being outside around trees and branches. If possible, remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Use caution if you must drive.

WN)--The weekly update from the Oklahoma State Health Department on Wednesday reported seven more COVID-19-related deaths in Enid. That means the seven deaths were confirmed in the past week, but may have occurred anytime previous. Over the past week the number of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations reported statewide have decreased compared to previous weeks, according to Oklahoma State Department of Health on Wednesday. In the past week, cases in Garfield County increased by 123, with 180 cases considered currently active. Statewide, there have been 320 hospitalizations in the past week. OSDH reported a three-day, daily average of 594 total COVID-19 hospitalizations, a decrease of 146 since last week. Of those, 198 are in the ICU across the state. The three-day average hospitalizations in the Northwest Region, including Enid, is 27 with 11 in the ICU. St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Enid reported it had five confirmed positive COVID-19 patients with one in the ICU, and Integris Bass Baptist Health Center reported six patients on Wednesday with two in the ICU.

BM)--A former Enid mayor and local bank executive, who was sentenced in 2018 in Enid’s largest-ever fraud scheme, was released to community supervision this week. 68 year-old Ernie Currier pleaded guilty in March 2018 to 33 felony charges and received a sentence of 13.5 years in prison, followed by 31 years of probation. Currier was charged with getting a total of 61 fraudulent loans by stealing and using the personal identities of individuals and creating false identities between 2000 and 2017. The total combined original amount of the loan accounts opened unlawfully by Currier was just over $6.2 million. According to Enid News and Eagle, Probation and Parole officials said Currier’s movements will now be monitored electronically through GPS.

CV)— Thirty-four deaths and 696 newly confirmed coronavirus cases were reported in the state, according to daily numbers released late this morning by the Oklahoma State Department of Health since Wednesday. Currently, 6,186 Oklahomans are considered active cases in the state, with 511 people currently hospitalized in the state for treatment of the virus. The seven-day rolling average for new, daily cases reported was 736.

There have been 10200 positive COVID-19 cases, and 206 deaths in Garfield County. 9053 of those cases and 191 deaths have been in Enid. In surrounding counties: Kingfisher County has reported 2594 cases, Blaine County is at 1504 cases, Alfalfa 1309, Major 1278, and Grant 696.
