BO)--State and national health officials are warning Oklahomans of a salmonella outbreak now traced back to onions. ProSource Produce has issued a voluntary recall of onions, which have been identified as the source of that outbreak in 37 states. Oklahoma is now second in the country with 100 infections, only behind Texas with 165. The state also has 15 hospitalizations. Nationally, there have been 652 infections and 129 hospitalizations. Officials said the most common symptoms of salmonella are diarrhea and fever. You will have some nausea and vomiting, and they do last for a number of days. So it’s not like a 24-hour bug like you may typically see. The onions come from Chihuahua, Mexico. That’s partly why it’s affecting Texas and Oklahoma more than other states. Officials said you should look through your pantry and discard any onions with a ProSource label.

CS)--The Enid Police Department is urging all parents and caregivers of children to ensure child car seats are chosen correctly and installed properly. EPD Lt. Eric Holtzclaw said that safety is a top priority. “We urge drivers to ensure their child passenger is riding in the appropriate car,” he said. “Having the proper car seat can save a child’s life.” According to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, children’s age, height and weight should be taken into account when choosing the best child restraint device. Many children 8 to 12 years old still need to use booster seats for their safety. For more information on choosing the correct car seat, visit: https://www.nhtsa.gov/campaign/right-seat.
