LC)--Healthcare officials say no ICU beds are reportedly available in Northwest Oklahoma hospitals as Garfield County gained 195 new COVID-19 cases and two more deaths from the virus in the past week, according to the weekly report released Wednesday. Enid News and Eagle reports cases in Garfield County increased to a total of 8,805, a weekly increase of 195, with 254 active and 8,405, or 95.5%, recovered. According to Oklahoma State Department of Health the majority of the Garfield County cases, 7,776, or 88.3%, have been in Enid, which reported 225 active cases and 7,416 recovered.

AS)--The 71st Medical Group at Vance Air Force Base has scheduled an active shooter exercise for today. To provide realism, audible “gunshots” may be heard twice in the Med Group at approximately 7:10 a.m. and again at 1:30 p.m. Vance officials asked that anyone who hears the gunshots to not report them to 911 or Vance Security Forces.

RW)--The City of Enid Engineering Department announced the roadway on South Wheatridge Road between West Owen K. Garriott and West Rupe will be closed to through traffic beginning today. Construction crews will be working on South Wheatridge at the entrance to Tennyson Manor Apartments to allow crews to install a low water crossing and repair the entrance approach. It is expected to take one to two weeks to complete and only local traffic will be allowed on South Wheatridge using the posted detour routes. Motorists are encouraged to follow posted detour and traffic control signs and to drive with caution in this area during the construction efforts.
