DF)--Dobson Fiber broke ground Thursday in Enid with an announcement of a multi-million dollar expansion of its fiber internet offering to the residents of Enid. “The response we have seen from our fiber-enabled neighborhoods in Oklahoma and Arkansas has been exceptional. Specifically, the feedback we have received from Enid residents along with the support of City Leadership, has enabled Dobson to devise a plan to build our 100% fiber networks to a majority of the homes in Enid,” said Francisco Maella, Chief Executive Officer of Dobson Fiber. “The fiber network will be constructed in multiple zones throughout Enid so we can install and turn-up homes as soon as those zones are completed.” Dobson Fiber and Oklahoma Gas and Electric Company (OG&E), recently announced a joint initiative to build, and share operation of, approximately 350 miles of fiber in Oklahoma and Arkansas. A portion of this fiber build project is focused on Enid. Mayor George Pankonin said, “The residents have been asking us for a long time to have an alternate service in the City, and we are excited for the future to have faster speed coming over fiber optics.”

AT)--Enid Police are seeking information about a failed ATM theft early Wednesday. Officers responded to another attempted ATM theft involving the use of a stolen 2000s model Ford truck. Just after 4:05 Wednesday morning, officers responded to the drive-up ATM at Great Plains Bank in the 500 block of S. Oakwood. When officers arrived, the ATM was found on the ground, with the doors open and the display pulled up and in pieces. After contacting a wrecker service to help right the ATM, it was found the thieves were unsuccessful in their attempt to steal money from the machine. As officers were at the scene, another call was received reporting an abandoned truck being found. Officers went to the 4300 block of La Mesa where they found a 2004 Ford F-250 left running in the roadway. The driver’s side door lock had been punched out, the ignition bezel was broken off and a screwdriver and the ignition bezel cap were in the driver’s seat of the vehicle. Officers also found a crowbar in the bed of the truck. Officers also fielded another call that night where someone attempted to steal a 2000 Ford F-250, but were unsuccessful in their attempt. The same modus operandi was used in other ATM burglaries in the city over the past few months, but it is unclear if it is the same suspects or another team of copycats. Police are asking residents who live in the area of 4300 La Mesa Drive, the 2700 block of Constitution and the 1000 block of Quail Ridge to check home surveillance video in hopes it caught the suspects. The address on Constitution is where the truck stolen and used in the attempted theft occurred. The address on Quail Ridge is where the attempted theft of the truck occurred. Anyone with information can either message Police or call (580) 242-7000.
