RW)--Construction on the Cleveland Street Drainage Channel, south of Willow Road and east of Cleveland, is scheduled to begin today and is anticipated to take four to five months. The project is located south of Willow Plaza and is associated with the future Cleveland Street widening project from Willow Road south to the BNSF railroad tracks. The project will have minimal impacts to traffic along Cleveland and motorists are encouraged to watch for construction vehicles entering and exiting the roadway during the construction effort.

 

In downtown, traffic and water service will be effected by the Randolph water line relocation project that will continue into June.

IA)--A Medford man was injured in a single vehicle accident early Sunday. Just before 5:00 Sunday morning, 27 year old Kent Kretchmar was driving a Honda Civic on a county road about 3 miles north of Medford in Grant County when his car departed the roadway, and struck a couple of guardrails before hitting a bridge embankment and coming to rest. Kretchmar was transported to St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Enid where he was admitted in stable condition with leg injuries.

CT)--Enid Police Department will participate in the nationwide Click It or Ticket campaign beginning today and running through June 6. Enid Police officers will be out enforcing seatbelt and child restraint seat laws with one goal in mind, saving lives. During 2019, 59.2 percent of all vehicle fatality victims were not using safety belts or child restraint devices.

CN)—The state's provisional death count was not updated, but 458 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the state since Friday, according to daily numbers released late this morning by the Oklahoma State Department of Health. 1,250 cases are considered active in Oklahoma, with 108 people currently hospitalized in the state from treatment of the virus. The seven-day rolling average for new, daily cases reported was 144.

There have been 7806 positive COVID-19 cases, and 131 deaths in Garfield County. 6905 of those cases and 121 deaths have been in Enid. In surrounding counties: Kingfisher County has reported 2056 cases, Alfalfa 1154, Blaine County is at 1045 cases, Major 956, and Grant 549.

VB)--The Veterans Memorial Bridge, which carries traffic over the BNSF Rail Yard at the 600 block of North Van Buren will be officially dedicated May 28 at 10:30 am at ABC Park. Enid AM AMBUCS, the City of Enid and State of Oklahoma ask you to join them in honoring all veterans and help kick off Memorial Day weekend.

CP)--City of Enid Parks and Recreation staff expect the Champlin Pool to be open Tuesday, June 1. Enid City Manager Jerald Gilbert said previously the pool would operate at normal capacity and with normal hours this year.
