CB)--A 41 year old Enid woman was injured Sunday in a single-vehicle accident in Kingfisher County. Oklahoma Highway Patrol officials have not released the woman’s name pending notification of next of kin. According to the report, just before 5:00 Sunday afternoon, the woman was being pursued by a Kingfisher County deputy on a county road southeast of Dover when she lost control. The 2005 Buick Enclave she was driving went airborne, hit a tree, and came to rest in the roadway.  She was extricated by the Kingfisher Fire Department, then flown by AirEvac to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, where she was admitted in critical condition for arm, leg, and internal injuries.

CC)—The Enid Mayor and Board of Commissioners will meet in special session this evening. The meeting will take place a day earlier than normal because three new commissioners will be sworn in, and it must be done on the first Monday of May, according to Enid’s city charter. Ward 3’s Keith Siragusa and Ward 4’s Whitney Roberts were elected to the commission in February and will be sworn in tonight. Their colleague, Ward 6’s Scott Orr, was also elected Feb. 9 but took office last month. During the meeting, commissioners are set to approve an agreement with a private company to install a new methane collection system at Enid’s landfill and then sell the leftover gas. The new commission will also conduct nearly half a dozen public property hearings Monday, including hearings over renaming two portions of road after two pilots from Vance Air Force Base who died in a plane crash in late 2019. Commissioners will also hear the city of Enid’s 2021-2022 fiscal year budget plan during a prior study session at 5:00this afternoon. The business meeting will begin at 6:30. Both meetings will be held in the Grand Ballroom of the Stride Bank Center Convention Hall, and are open to the public.

RA)--The Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics recently presented the Enid Police Department with the Director's Award for Law Enforcement for 2020. It was to recognize the Department's Narcotics Unit working with the agency and its task forces during 2019 and 2020. EPD Sgt. Shawn Ramsey, Sgt. Justin Hodges and Det. Randy Wilson were recognized for their award-winning work. They were thanked for their training of members of the task force in narcotics work, their support provided to the task forces and the roles they played in bringing charges against more than 30 suspects.

CN)—35 more newly confirmed virus-related deaths and 567 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the state since Friday, according to daily numbers released late this morning by the Oklahoma State Department of Health. There are currently 192 people hospitalized in the state for treatment of the virus. The seven-day rolling average for new daily cases reported was 228.

DP)--Prayer for our community and nation will be the focus of Enid’s 2021 National Day of Prayer gathering from noon to 12:40 p.m. Thursday, May 6. The event will be at the gazebo on the north side of the Garfield County Courthouse in downtown Enid. The prayer gathering is sponsored by the Enid Ministerial Alliance, which represents numerous churches and ministries in Enid. National Day of Prayer is not affiliated with any one

denomination, and all people are encouraged to attend and pray.
