SV)--Enid Public Schools is partnering with Garfield County Health Department to offer the COVID vaccine to students 16 and older today from 3:30 to 5:30 at the EHS gym. A parent must be present if you're under 18. The second dose will automatically be scheduled for May 19th.

CD)--About 200,000 more people live in Oklahoma now compared to 10 years ago. According to the 2020 census data, there are now 3,959,353 people living in Oklahoma. That's a 5.5% increase, and adds up to about 3 more people per square mile. While the population change wasn't enough to affect our congressional seats in Washington, our neighbors in Texas saw enough growth to gain 2 seats, while New York and California lost population, and 1 congressional seat each.

TS)--The Spring Tri-State Music Festival activities are set for today through Friday. Concert Band, Jazz Band, Orchestra, Show Choir, Chorus and Drumline will take place, but because of the Covid-19 virus, the Honor Choir and Honor Band will not take place this year. The annual parade has been moved to October 2nd, to coincide with the field marching contest.

CN)—13 more newly confirmed virus-related deaths and 249 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the state since Tuesday, according to daily numbers released late this morning by the Oklahoma State Department of Health. There are 192 people currently hospitalized in the state for treatment of the virus. The seven-day rolling average for new daily cases reported was 240.

There have been 7782 positive COVID-19 cases, and 128 deaths in Garfield County. 6884 of those cases and 118 deaths have been in Enid. In surrounding counties: Kingfisher County has reported 2050 cases, Alfalfa 1156, Blaine County is at 1040 cases, Major 954, and Grant 549.

CR)--A reception honoring Commissioners Ben Ezzell, Jonathan Waddell, David Mason, and Jeff Funk is slated for 5:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Stride Bank Center, Grand Ballroom. The come-and-go event is free to the public, beginning with social hour at 5:30 p.m. and continuing with recognition, presentations, and remarks at 6:00 p.m. The Ward 3, 4, and 6 commission seat terms all expire in May 2021.

AM)--United Way of Northwest Oklahoma will host its Annual Meeting and Awards Ceremony Thursday from 11:30 to 1:00 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom of the Stride Bank Center. There will be lunch, special presentations, the 2020-2021 campaign totals and an announcement from the 2021-2022 Campaign Chairs.

HW)--The City of Enid's Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day will be Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the City of Enid Service Center located at 1500 W. Poplar Avenue.

 

The following list of materials will be accepted: Pharmaceuticals, Pesticides/Herbicides, Oil-Based Paints/Stains, Lawn Care Products, Pool Chemicals, Old Fuels, and Craft & Hobby Supplies

 

Materials not accepted: Commercial Waste, Ammunition/Explosives, Medical/Infectious Waste, Radioactive Waste, or Mixed Chemicals

DP)--Prayer for our community and nation will be the focus of Enid’s 2021 National Day of Prayer gathering from noon to 12:40 p.m. Thursday, May 6. The event will be at the gazebo on the north side of the Garfield County Courthouse in downtown Enid. The prayer gathering is sponsored by the Enid Ministerial Alliance, which represents numerous churches and ministries in Enid. National Day of Prayer is not affiliated with any one denomination, and all people are encouraged to attend and pray.
