FC)--Enid Police continue to investigate a weekend crash that left a local man dead. Police said 56 year-old Troy Litterell was driving a 2001 red Dodge pickup southbound in the inside lane of the 400 block of South 30th just after 5:30 Sunday afternoon when his truck struck the curb and then a bridge support. Litterell was transported by Life EMS to St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center but did not survive the crash.

WW)—Enid Public Schools, the Garfield County Courthouse and many more locations and events are closed or cancelled today due to the icy road conditions. It all started Monday with light freezing drizzle and fog that left many roadways slick and hazardous. The freezing drizzle and light snow is resulting in black ice, which is hard to see on highways, city streets and in parking lots so drivers need to slow down and use extra caution.

TV)--Registered voters in City of Enid Wards 3, 4 and 6 will elect their commissioners today. Polls will be open 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Winners will take their seats during the first commission meeting in May. Ward 3 candidates are Kent Rorick, sales manager for Jackson’s dealership, and Keith Siragusa, former police officer who now works at Bennie’s Barn horse therapy center. Ward 4 candidates are former commissioner Loyd Kaufman; Whitney Roberts, owner of full-service photography studio and print lab Motophoto; and incumbent City Commissioner Jonathan Waddell. Ward 6 candidates are Ryan Redd, chemical engineer and project manager for Koch Fertilizer; retired Air Force officer Scott Orr; and Michael Shuck, architect and business owner.
Also today, Waukomis Public Schools patrons will vote on a nearly $7.4 million bond issue, with the bulk of the money going toward construction of a new elementary school and cafeteria. Also to be funded are retractable bleachers in the gym; bleachers for the school’s softball and baseball fields; parking lot work; safety equipment; and new band instruments, chairs, stands and flooring.

CN)— 53 more virus-related deaths, including two Kingfisher County and one Grant County woman and 1,070 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the state since Monday, according to daily numbers released late this morning by the Oklahoma State Department of Health. 937 people are currently hospitalized in Oklahoma for treatment of the virus. The seven-day rolling average for new cases reported was 1,986, the state health department said.

There have been 7252 positive COVID-19 cases, and 63 deaths in Garfield County. 6405 of those cases and 59 deaths have been in Enid. In surrounding counties: Kingfisher County has reported 1904 cases, Alfalfa 1132, Blaine County is at 964 cases, Major 921, and Grant 515.

IA)--Two teenagers from Kingfisher were injured Monday at a train crossing three miles north of Okarche. 18 year old Brenden Toepfer was driving a 2001 Dodge truck on a county road and was unable to stop due to the icy road. He struck the side of a Union Pacific Train, then a signal mast. Toepfer was ejected, as was his passenger, a 15 year old juvenile male. Toepfer was admitted to Mercy Hospital in OKC in stable condition with head, and trunk injuries. The juvenile passenger was admitted in stable condition to OU Children's Hospital in stable condition with whole body injuries. The conductor of the train, 43 year old Clinton Baxter of Chickasha, was not injured.

VC)--The COVID-19 vaccination clinic at Oakwood Mall has pushed back its start times to 10:00 a.m. every day this week due to icy weather conditions and slick roadways in the Enid area. Those with vaccine appointments between 8:00-10:00 a.m. were told to expect phone calls to reschedule. Garfield County Health Department officials urged people not to call staff who are working to reschedule hundreds of appointments.
