RM)—About 30 Enid area residents were on hand at Autry Technology Center Thursday evening for a town hall meeting discussing the state and congressional redistricting process. Once every decade, the Oklahoma Legislature is required by law to redraw its congressional and legislative boundaries to reflect changes in population according to the U.S. Census data.

Those on hand heard from Keith Beall, redistricting director for the Oklahoma Senate. Attendees asked questions and had the chance to provide input. Oklahoma currently has five congressional districts, with Garfield County being in the 3rd Congressional District. In the Oklahoma House, parts of Garfield County are in Districts 38, 40 and 41, while it is in District 19 in the Oklahoma Senate. Any questions or comments can be sent to redistricting@oksenate.gov. For more information about the redistricting process, visit www.oksenate.gov.redistricting.

VP)--The Oklahoma State Department of Health COVID-19 vaccine scheduler portal is now available for pre-registration. The department launched the COVID-19 vaccine scheduler portal to notify Oklahomans when they’re eligible to receive the vaccine and provide more information on how to schedule an appointment. Oklahomans can visit this portal at vaccinate.oklahoma.gov, but appointment scheduling will not be available until Thursday. Health officials said currently only Oklahomans who are 65 and older, health care workers and/or first responders will be able to schedule appointments. As the state advances in its phased approach to vaccine distribution, the system will notify and allow individuals in additional priority groups and phases the opportunity to schedule their appointment.
