SY)--Enid Public Schools teachers and some students are back in the classroom today for the first day of the news school year. Most district students are expected to participate in “in-classroom” instruction, but there is an option for remote, virtual attendance. Schools have several mask and social-distancing procedures that will be followed for student and staff safety. The return of the school year means the return of school zones. Obey the school zone speed limits, and remember to follow the rules when a school bus has its flashing lights on. If you violate the school zone limit, be prepared to pay. Speeding 10 mph or less over the speed limit in a school zone could result in a $144 fine. Speeding 11 mph or more in a school zone could result in a $244 fine. As with speeding in a school zone, passing a stopped school bus with its lights and stop sign active carries a fine of $144.

IA)--A Wakita woman was hospitalized Wednesday with injuries suffered in a two-vehicle accident in Grant County. Oklahoma Highway Patrol officials said 67 year-old Diana Jane Solorio was transported to St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Enid, then transferred to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City where she was admitted in stable condition with head and trunk injuries. According to the report, Solorio was driving a 2008 Ford Expedition east on a county road near Wakita just after 3:00 Wednesday afternoon when she ran into the back of a 1996 Ford Ranger pickup driven by 61 year-old Rodney Conrady of Wakita. Conrady was treated at St. Mary's for a head injury and released. According to the report, the condition of both drivers was apparently normal, and the cause of the accident was inattention.
