THUNDER UP!

THUNDER UP!   Updates on the Thunder playoff basketball season.  Send me your views on Thunder basketball at jhoberecht@kofm.com.

It will be interesting to see what moves the Oklahoma City Thunder make in the off season and what players they go after in the NBA Draft.  The Thunder bench needs to get better and rebounding has to be a priority.  We’ll see what happens…be assured it will have a different look next season.  It will be another exciting season as Durant and Westbrook gain experience and their teammates mature too.  The Thunder are young and experience will help the Thunder get better.

The Oklahoma City Thunder lost to San Antonio Spurs 112-107 to end their season in the sixth game of the Western Conference Finals.  The Thunder got a combined 65 points from Westbrook (34) and Durant (31) plus 21 rebounds and 14 turnovers.  The Spurs converted 20 Thunder turnovers into 33 points.  The Spurs bench outscored the Thunder bench. The Spurs will be making their second straight and sixth overall trip to the NBA Finals under Coach Greg Popovich.  The Thunder had a great season and will continue to get better as they gain experience.  This is still a young team.

The Oklahoma City Thunder, in a must win game Sunday, did just that Sunday night beating San Antonio 106-97 in game three of the Western Conference Finals at the Peake.  The Thunder were in another must win situation last night and beat San Antonio 105-92 last night at the Peake to even the seven games series at 2-2.  Russell Westbrook had 40 points on 12 of 24 shooting and 14 of 14 free throws.  Kevin Durant had 31 points.  The Thunder were good last night on both ends of the floor.  They shot 49% and had just seven turnovers and were 24 of 31 from the foul line.  The Western Conference Finals returns to San Antonio Thursday for game five and back to Oklahoma City Saturday for game six.

The Oklahoma City Thunder are in the NBA Western Conference Finals after beating the Clippers 104-98 last night to win the semi-finals 4-2.  The Thunder were led in scoring by Kevin Durant with 39 points and 16 rebounds.  Russell Westbrook had a slow start but finished with 19 points and 12 assists.  Serge Ibaka went to the locker room with an injured left calf.  The Thunder did it with defense limiting the Clippers to just 98 points.  The Thunder hit 29 of 33 free throws compared to just 12 of 20 for the Clippers.  The Western Conference Finals begin Monday and Wednesday nights in San Antonio before coming to Oklahoma City on Sunday and Tuesday.  Big series trying to get to the NBA Finals!
